the pillowman was bombastic!
actually i'm not that sure if we got good seats in the first place, it was near the stage and all but it meant we were totally immersed in the atmosphere, breathing the cigarrette smoke that the divine actors were perpetrating, feeling the gunshot and heat from the fires.
but it's okay people can be made passive smokers anytime, anywhere.
and actors sacrifice their own health for art too!
but katurian katurian katurian, michal karturian and tupolski and ariel were nothing short of great actors.
i forgot that i was watching fiction, it was almost like i was witnessing the entire REAL-LIFE drama unfold in front of me.
on a side note, sugar and spice was very real too. GO GRANDMAS! i aspire to be as cool as shiro's grandma when i'm old, minus the young boyfriends.
i made myself try and think deeper with the play, but at least i know the main question is the responsibility of a storyteller.
i wonder if there are any references to be made! like katurian katurian katurian, being the protagonist, and his initials also being KKK. like whether it has any link to the ku klux klan.
and i still don't really get why the play is titled the pillowman when it's like only one out of the supposed four hundred stories katurian katurian katurian wrote. maybe he's like the pillowman! no evil intentions in his words but when translated into actions he becomes the criminal, the misunderstood and the unfortunate one too.
this play made me have a further glimpse into the extent of the wonders of the human imagination
and i'm glad i was inducted into the world of plays by the pillowman.
it was made all the more special since rongrong and priscilla and i shared the night with stars! first rongrong and i saw michelle chia and chen hanwei at vivo, then we saw dick lee, kit chan, leona lo, and the guy who's part of the speak mandarin campaign but is not hassan nor JJ. and ambassadors aplenty.
i don't know what made me choose to book 13th August 0800 pm but i'm glad i did, rongrong and i believe that this shows we'll be stars too in time to come.
on to my idyllic life today - 5/6 hours straight in front of the tv. and i walked away with one very significant learning point.
after watching michael jackson in his thriller mv
he wore RED SKINNIES! so fashion is a cycle of reinventing the past.
and RED SKINNIES, OR SKINNIES already existed! WOW!
AND I'M REALLY EXCITED ABOUT THIS. i just finished watching Modern Marvels on the history channel and today's episode was on the making of CANDY!
AHHHH i'm so overwhelmed and touched and fascinated and inspired after seeing how CHOCOLATE, JOLLY BELLY JELLY BEANS, TAFFY, DROPS and other assorted bars and PEANUT BRITTLE, HERSHEY'S KISSES are made that i feel like crying.
40 billion jelly beans were eaten in 2005!

exciting stuffs. i feel like ditching my past aspirations and setting up a candy shop with my brother selling only handmade candy thank you very much. my brother had similar inclinations after the show ended. we have decided to play 50 cent's candy shop in our candy shop as our anthem because as critics say, it "was dripping with sexual energy".
phenomenal. by the time we get to setting up our shop, candy shop will be a classic!
the concluding statement of the show was" candy makes people happy."
it's such a noble calling to make people happy.
who cares about you, meritocratic society of singapore!
but then, dreams are dreams and reality is reality.
