i wanted to blog about this yesterday.
cos it suddenly came to me when i was having dinner with my family in longhouse that nobody and not even myself looked happy eating
and then in sunday times comes out an article on food fantasy by cheong suk wai!
i mean, singapore being a food paradise. i would think being happy in paradise makes it paradise.
okay maybe longhouse was the wrong place to look. since the food isn't worth being ecstatic over there. but then ah hah! it's because we're all too rich we just treat it like aiyah hawker food, so what?!
we're all too comfortable and rich and pampered we forget to appreciate.
and actually the chicken feet skin in longhouse is actually quite nice. but i guess to everyone it's too cheap and insignificant to be happy over.
or people don't even know what it is. like some guy in the adjacent table who STARED HOLES into the chicken feet to conclude it was taupok. HAHHAHAHAHAHHAH
okay whatever i get pissed when people stare. i think it's because i always stare at people so people stare at my stuff.
when i think about food ecstasy i think about two significant instances.
one, when i tasted mr bean soya bean ice cream which is THE BOMB MAN. i was smiling and smiling cos i discovered my new comfort food. which is also healthy. what more can you ask for right?
and two, when i went to merchant court hotel for their dinner buffet which is, ETHEREAL. i was GOBSMACKED when i saw their extensive dessert collection, which had ICE CREAM WAFFLES, but most importantly, two of the many loves of my life, TANGYUAN AND CHEESECAKE. YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. i truly felt really excited looking at it. and i really savoured the cheesecake, every erh 2 slices?! which should actually amount to one meal's worth of calories but heck. so the entire enjoyable affair ended with me having a burst tummy. literally.i could feel the pain of my stomach stretching to hold all that food in me cos i had like what, 20 helpings of food?!
and i sampled all the desserts. i ADORE desserts.
yes so i don't remember being happy about food anymore. cos i'm a freaking girl and girls always complain that they're fat cos fat is ugly and skinny is pretty and everyone wants to be pretty and so i also want to be pretty and then food is the ENEMY and then who cares about food i'll love it if i'll be able to eat all i want and still be skinny. that only happens to the blessed minority. BUT! since i will aim to live according to my own thinking i shall try and stop thinking like that. and eat healthily. because it's good for me. and because i want to be skinny. i always look at myself and go ahhh blubber all over i wish the world thought fat was pretty but it's okay if i can't change the world i can change myself and i can think fat is pretty? i think my self confidence is totally lacking in this area. actually what is the body? the body is dead as God said.
but from now on i'll at least try and appreciate what i eat. though the canteen sells goop. but again, singaporeans are too pampered.
i think what's good (and bad) is that i always finish up what is given to me. so my mum cooks up humongous portions for us when we're having dinner. i think it's because i watch tv and eat. and most importantly, i always eat what i relatively dont like as much and leave my favourite portions to the last. which makes me finish everything. this is a weight-related problem! but it also shows im appreciative of food. like the primary school poem about rice. LI4 LI4 JIE1 XIN1 KU3 !
i wonder why most married couples quarrel. i was, and still am, to a large extent sure that i want to marry my first love and i hope it's the same for him, whoever it is. but looking at married people near me , it's probably only going to be ideal and romantic but not a foolproof way of marriage. i hate being angry and quarreling. i don't ever ever ever want that to happen in my marriage.
